Family Support Services
While our patients are our first priority, a close second is all the family members of our patients. We understand that the end-of-life process can be very difficult for everyone involved, and are committed to being as helpful and supportive as possible.
We offer family support for a full 13 months after the passing of an immediate family member who was in our hospice care. Support includes access to our Spiritual Care Services, our Grief Support Groups, and our Social Workers, and also includes mailings, tips, and resources to help you learn to adjust to your βnew normal.β During the transition phase, family members can also work with our End-of-Life Doula to create as peaceful a transition as possible for their loved one.
Spiritual Care Services
Spiritual Care Services at Coastal Hospice offer comfort to those grieving the death of loved one by helping you connect with the spiritual practices that bring you the most meaning.
We do not push any religious beliefs on those we help, but rather assist each individual along on their chosen path by helping them find supportive resources or spiritual partners they can relate to within their chosen paradigm.
Grief Support Groups
Grief Support Groups form the cornerstone of our post-loss support services, offering you a safe environment where you can freely discuss your experiences, express emotions, and learn from those going through similar experiences. Grief support groups provide essential demystification of griefing while still honoring each person's individual experience of loss. Furthermore, connecting with other members of the group helps to foster belongingness and the mutual support essential for rebuilding your life after experiencing trauma.
Social Workers
Social Workers play an invaluable role in providing personalized support, assisting individuals and families navigate the practical and emotional complexities that accompany loss of a loved one.
From handling administrative duties and financial concerns, to supporting each family member emotionally, our social workers offer comprehensive assistance that enables families to adjust to new circumstances with confidence by giving them all necessary resources they require in order to move forward.
